Back Again...

- and how I have missed being here, but sometimes life just throws things at you that has to be dealt with and without boring you with the details, thankfully life has returned to it's busy but normal self.

I haven't done any scrapbooking, cardmaking or sewing and we still live in the UK, nothing has changed there yet, so all the home furnishings I was going to make are still in my head (allthough I did manage to buy an overlocker a couple of weeks ago which I can't wait to use...)

All I have managed to do is to re-knit my husbands scarf from last christmas (disastrous design choice made it roll, so the poor man was wearing a knitted sausage round his neck), a similar scarf for Matilde as she now refused let go of daddy's new scarf and a knitted trapper hat (the one with the fur flap on the front) to match - for Matilde, not my husband...

The result is that now I have a list as long as an arm and a leg of things I want to do for Christmas and beyond and I can't wait to get stuck in - as well as all the lovely catching up I have to do on all of your blogs - a lot of happy days to come.

Until next time (not so long from now).

Mission accomplished

I don't know if you remember the card I made for my lovely sister who has moved into a new house - and more so the missing present I was going to get.

That mission is now accomplished! And with the help from my to fantastic girl, I didn't have to send it to her without a personal touch. They both desided to make some hama-bead-creations for their favourite aunti and here are the results.

I have to say that they went to great lengths in their attempts not to smile
- but luckily it didn't work.

Orienteering

After my last post, Louise asked me if we didn't take any pictures - and for once my dear husband actually brought his beloved camera.

It started of a bit foggy but by the end of the 5k the sun came out and it turned out to be a lovely Octobers day.

Here are a couple of shots from the day!

The big girls running off lots and lots of energy pretending to be witches

Freya spotting the next post and therefore the one who gets to stamp the card

So this was the last event of the season, but the first time Freya, who is three, walked all 5k by without her pushchair - WELL DONE!!!

Dinner with friends

A few weeks ago we was invited to the Christening of our lovely nephew Jonannes. I was a lovely day with family and VERY nice food.

I have to admit I have never been a fan of the thought of bulgur wheat and spelt salad but that day I saw the light. We had the most fantastic various salads with spelt, fennel, sun dried tomatoes and green beans (not all in the same bowl of course).

Today, after 5 k of orienteering, we had some very good friends over for lunch and after hunting high and low for some spelt grain with no luck, I decided to try a green bean salad my good friend Anette told me about.

It is very delicious and so easy to make too - here are the ingredients if you want to try:

Fresh green beans - blanched
Feta cheese
Red onion
Almond flakes

Dressing:
2 parts olive oil
1 part balsamic vinegar
1 part acacia honey

Bon appetit!

Cards, Cards, Cards...

- or should I just say one card, because that is all it is.

Whilst I am still thinking long and hard about my Christmas Cards (think it involves something with 6x6 kraft paper cards, hessian (or do you call it burlap here, still confused and don't even know if there is a difference), some stars and perhaps a sneeky stamp), I thought I would share a card I made for my sister who has just moved.

It has to be said that after the summer I have really struggled with getting my scrapbook pages going again - many anight have I unpacked everything only to put it away after 2 hours of paper shifting :-)

So at the last class at Louise's I thought I'd cut my loses and make a couple of moving-house-cards instead. I did get a lot of slack for not having finished the first one after an hour - lol - but then I was on a roll and made the next one i about ten minutes and regain the respect :-)

And here it is - still on my desk as I still haven't bought the kitchen scales I want to sent with it. I guess I must make that my next project...

Saturday family time

I am so lucky that both my girls take after me in the crafty department - put some hama-beads, paper and glue or just coloring pens in front of them and they are off. It's fab to see them develop their own styles - yet very hard NOT to guide them too much and make them do things my way :-)

Sometimes - not very often - but sometimes I manage to be a little bit organised - and normally when we are going to all the birthday partys the girls are invited to we more or less go and buy the present  on the way there... BUT NOT THIS TIME.

So with the presents already bought I thought it would be nice for the girls to make their own gift wrap, and with my newly invested small ink pads and my stamps I they made the most gorgeous wrapping paper.

I am so ready to give the wrapping paper for Christmas a go.

My husband was watching from the kitchen - he volunteered do the dishes all by himself not to get involved in the potential mess :-)

Until next time...

Thanks!

What a start to this new venture. I can't thank you all enough for popping by and for all your lovely comments. It is all a bit scary, but you have all helped me on my way.

As some of you mentioned I have now managed to add the Follow gadget - so hopefully I've done it right!

So this is it - officially a blogger :-)

My very first attempt...

so please bear with me :-)

This is a whole new experience for me - but with everything else new that is going on at the moment I thought it would be a good time to try it out.

I think I ought to warn you immediately - English is not my first language and I am renowned for coming up with new English words or frases, sorry phrases (and spelling mistakes) - so if there is something you are confused about please don't be afraid to ask.

Even though I am in the middle of a move I have a few projects on the go:
  • Scrapbook from our honeymoon in Kenya 2005 (has to be said that I only started it this summer) - there will definately be posts about this...
  • A lovely scarf (started in June but struggling with the knitting pattern)
  • Christmas Cards (still in the design phase)
  • ...
- not to mention all the projects that are in my head waiting to be materialised.

I am not very good at creating anything without inspiration, and one of the people I turn to most is my very good friend Louise - and besides checking her blog daily I am very lucky that I also go to her classes and - if need be - has an open line. I can't thank her enough for getting me going again after many years of not doing anything crafty - whatsoever...

This it is for now - I can't wait to share my crafty/bakey/knitty journey with you.
